So appreciate you sharing this Kirsti and I’m up for the weekly discussions. Great modeling for your niece and so glad you followed your appetite and pushed through the fear to have this non-diet victory. I’ve given up diets too. I eat what gives me pleasure and nourishment when I want to, scale be dammed (in fact I don’t even own one). My victory is to look in the mirror and say, ‘This is a woman who owns every part of herself. And that self-possession looks good on you, girl.’
I love this for you, Amy! And I love the idea of creating some kind of mantra like this that reinforcements what you’re trying to achieve. We can all learn from this.
I love this so much Kristi. These are the kinds of small wins that so enjoy celebrating with the people I support/ work with. And also the very important thing you did for your niece by modeling that our hungers are there to be honored and cherished instead of subdued, dismissed and conquered.
May there be a whole generation of women growing up that knows their worth and that their bodies are not something to be fixed.
Thank you, Linn. It's good to be validated here. I know there are people who feel this way (hopefully more every day), but they are still a small minority. I think you said it all with this line. "May there be a whole generation of women growing up that knows their worth and that their bodies are not something to be fixed."

Thanks Kirsti! May have taken me a long time (I am days away from my 65th birthday) but it’s never too late to be our own best cheerleader.
It's never too late. This is what I tell myself every day.
Bravo! I'm restacking a paragraph I really loved. Thanks for sharing and for your full vulnerability.
Thank you, Leslie! Glad you liked it!

Sometimes leading by example is eating the pasta. Love this!!
I love this, and second breakfast!
I love this. I have so many judgy voices in my head and I need to listen to my own (sometimes judgy but doing better) voice and body.
The pressure you describe—to eat just so—is palpable and visceral—and so difficult to escape even for a moment. Congrats to you.
