I concur that Texas in August is the devil's asshole. (And that's not even counting the politics...) I'm a bit obsessed with the idea of living on the east coast. Even though I'm a born and bred Texan, I've always felt such a pull to that area. My son lives in NYC, so there's an even stronger pull now. But my daughter lives in LA, so we feel kind of stuck in the middle. I'm going to live vicariously through your relocation though...

Haha. That's so funny, Leslie. Maybe you'll eventually pick a side. But more seriously, I totally get your thoughts on this. This is another part of our equation, what direction the kids are headed.

I loved reading about a part of the world that I have yet to visit. Beautiful photos!

Thank you, Louise. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Charlottesville is located in a breathtaking part of Virginia. Rich in history and has the University of Virginia there, as well. The politics are a bit of a mess but that’s true everywhere. I’ve found Reddit to be a good source when deciding on a move. Before I moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, I joined the Williamsburg subreddit and found lots of good info.

My heart belongs in England…whether I’ll ever get to live there is still TBD!

It's good to get another endorsement for Charlottesville. Now that's we've shared a few of these places, we're getting feedback. I haven't checked out Reddit for this, but I imagine it's a great way to also just get a "flavor" for the area.

I’m in Baltimore, Maryland and Frederick is great. I would look into Ellicott City too. They have an adorable historic area with a Main Street, little shops and restaurants, and it has a lot of green space and parks nearby too.

Thank you! Will look at Ellicott. This is what's been so fun about sharing these places. People are suggesting other options. Who knows where it will eventually lead us!

This sounds wonderful! And I love your waterfall face. How did I not know we were both in Texas? (Like you we are also considering an exit in a few years when our youngest graduates).

Where are you? Love meeting up with my fellow Substackers in real life.

I'm in Dallas! And also, I am a fellow Kristi (same spelling). Kristen is my professional, full name, but everyone in my regular life or who knew me from childhood calls me Kristi. Where are you?

That's so cool to meet a fellow Kristi. It seems like we're everywhere now ;). I'm just outside of Austin.
