When I'm presenting in a conference room and I see my circular posture on the cameras from behind. Nobody needs to see that angle! Let's just pretend you can only see me from the front!
I love this piece. It makes so much sense that wherever we drop ourselves into impacts how we experience ourselves. I'm currently reading Gabor Mate's "The Myth of Normal" in which he describes different cultures as non-sterile Petri dishes that encourage different organisms to thrive. If we drop ourselves into Petri dishes that are more primed for diet culture / body comparison, expecting ourselves to not be touched by that is a high bar. It has made me realize how important it is to mostly choose living in / visiting places that align with my values if I want to stay present in myself. Or at least getting ready to show myself a ton of self compassion when things feel hard when I'm in a culture that doesn't align. I love that you've identified the types of vacations / activities where you can be most embodied.
Btw, I'm loving the Gabor Mate book above but beware because weight bias shows up here and there. Ugh.
