Thank you for including SLIP in this piece (which I somehow missed when you first published it)! Also, I love that you included Heidi’s books too. Heidi was actually one of my outpatient dieticians when I was treated at Boston Children’s Hospital as an adolescent in the late 90s, and I interviewed her for my book. The medical records she wrote all those years ago proved so helpful during my reporting/writing process. Such a small world!
Thank you, Kristi, for your kind words about my books and for this article in general. Wishing you easeful holidays and much body kindness.
I’m looking forward to creating an update in my third book for young adults. I’ve learned a lot since becoming a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner about trauma and disordered eating, as well as more about how neurodivergence and disability may get in the way of attuned eating and moving as well. Onward…
As someone with trauma and neurodivergence, I'd love to hear more about these topics! When I first read Intuitive Eating, there was a line in there about how if you have experienced trauma, you may need more help in getting attuned with your body. Because of my history with trauma, I was really worried I wouldn't be able to connect with my body, so I found an intuitive eating-certified therapist and began working with her. It was transformative in getting to the root of many of my issues around food and eating.

Wow! That's a pretty amazing coincidence and a wonderful way to come full circle.
It’s so helpful to include these resources that helped you.
Thanks, Megrette. You were so affirming in my interview with you earlier this year and continue to be such an important resource.

I will be writing about this more and more as I continue to steep myself in these topics. Thanks for your interest and stay tuned…
Love this resource and all your insights. Thanks for sharing my recent piece, I hope it speaks to others the same way it did you!
Thank you!
